Slowing Down to Level Up

Hey friend…this one’s going to be a little different. A little more vulnerable. A little more honest. And hopefully, really timely for someone who needs it.

After pouring my heart into this podcast week after week, I’ve decided to take a pause until summer. Not because I’m burnt out. Not because I’m giving up. But because I’m choosing to honor rest. Not the kind of rest that means doing nothing, but the kind that creates intentional space to grow, recalibrate, and reflect.

If you’ve ever felt guilty for slowing down or thought you had to earn your rest? This one’s for you.

Behind the Scenes: What Sparked the Pause

Let’s get real for a second: I didn’t make this decision lightly. Between my firm Magnetic Profits, Workflow Queen, a new book on the horizon, and launching a new service (plus a podcast rebrand due to a trademark hiccup – yes, that happened mid-recording!), I realized I was operating at full capacity.

"I’m not slowing down because I’m overwhelmed," I said in the episode. "I’m slowing down because I’m intentionally creating space."

This isn’t just a break; it’s a strategic reset. A moment to re-center before stepping into the next level of growth with clarity and energy.

Rest is Strategic, Not Weak

One of the biggest mindset shifts I’ve had over my 9 years as an entrepreneur? Learning that rest isn’t lazy. It’s powerful.

At our recent Zion retreat (which we hosted exclusively for Breakthrough students), we made it super clear: there would be no strategy sessions. No structured teaching. Just space to connect, recharge, and be.

But what surprised me most was how many attendees struggled with the idea of rest. So many felt the need to "justify" their time away—to their partners, to themselves. "I can’t tell my husband I just got a massage," one said. "I have to prove I did something productive."

Sound familiar?

That hit me hard. Because I used to believe that too. I grew up watching my dad work relentlessly, even while my brother was battling cancer. For so long, I internalized the belief that hustle equals worth.

It’s taken years of unlearning, therapy, and tough lessons to get here, but I can now say with confidence:

Rest is the strategy.

Some of the best business ideas I’ve had came while sitting in silence, driving with the windows down, or soaking in a hot tub in Zion. We don’t always need more doing. We need more being.

What’s Next: Big Moves Ahead for Workflow Queen

Pressing pause doesn’t mean things stop moving. In fact, behind the scenes, things are ramping up in the best way:

  • The Workflow Queen Book is in the works (launching Q4), and it’s going to be a game-changer for anyone building a scalable, freedom-filled firm.

  • Breakthrough continues to thrive, led by our incredible coaches Brooke and Erica who are fully supporting our students while I step back from calls.

  • New Service Offerings at Magnetic Profits are being refined to help business owners analyze both their finances and their owner dependency, with packages starting at $10k.

  • Podcast Rebrand for my firm is happening post-trademark hiccup (lesson learned: always double check IP, even when you think you’re good).

Rest is making all of this possible. It’s not a retreat from growth. It’s the foundation for it.

A Note for the Doers Who Struggle to Stop

If you’re in a season of nonstop go-go-go, I see you. I used to be the one multitasking during podcasts, checking Slack during dinner, and convincing myself I had to earn every moment of rest.

But here’s the truth: you don’t.

You don’t have to prove your worth through output. You don’t have to earn the right to slow down. You are allowed to rest.

"The best strategy I ever implemented in my business was the strategy I created for myself."

Take this as your permission slip. Whether it’s a full podcast pause, a 10-minute walk in the sun, or a weekend without emails, start somewhere.

Because rest isn’t failure. It’s leadership.

I’ll be back on the pod this summer. In the meantime, if this message hit home, reach out. Reply to the email, send a DM, share this with a friend who needs it.

We grow forward by pressing pause.
