Today, I’m super excited because I’m chatting with one of my best friends and an incredible yoga instructor, Nicole Staples.

Nicole isn’t just amazing in my personal life but also a total game-changer in the business world. She specializes in helping entrepreneurs like usβ€”because let's face it, we’re a unique breed. We carry so much weight on our shoulders, and having tailored support is a lifesaver! I would know haha! πŸ˜‰

Meet Nicole Staples: Yoga for Entrepreneurs

Nicole started her yoga journey in 2017 because she was super stressed out from working multiple jobs and not getting enough sleep. A life-changing trip to Costa Rica for a yoga teacher training set her on this path. Now, she shares her yoga practice with business owners and entrepreneurs who need to de-stress and find balance. All of us, right?!

Nicole was actually the first friend I made when I moved to Lake Arrowhead. Our relationship has flourished over the years, and she’s even been a guest expert in my group coaching program, Breakthrough, where she led yoga sessions to help our students start their month off right.

Why Pouring Into Your Own Cup Matters

We all know we should put ourselves first, but why is it so important? Nicole explains that self-care practices let us focus on our mental and physical well-being. When we're constantly in "go-go-go" mode, it’s easy to get stuck in anxiety loops that make it hard to focus on others. By taking care of ourselves, we can better serve our clients and teams.

Last winter, I had a major anxiety attack during a winter storm. Nicole was one of the first people I called. She guided me through some breathing exercises that calmed me down. Her techniques were so helpful to me at a time when I really needed it, and I’ve only had one or two anxiety attacks since then.

Techniques to Control Your Breathing and Center Yourself

Nicole shared some awesome breathing techniques.

One of her favorites is the 4-7-8 technique:

  1. Inhale for a count of four.

  2. Hold your breath for a count of seven.

  3. Exhale for a count of eight.

This technique helps you focus on the present moment, which is super helpful when you’re feeling anxious.

Thanks to Nicole’s guidance during my anxiety attack, I learned the power of breath control. It’s now my go-to technique whenever I feel overwhelmed.

Yoga for Teams and Building Community

Nicole offers yoga sessions not just for individuals but also for teams. Whether it’s via Zoom or in person, these sessions can boost team communication, empathy, and productivity. Imagine starting your team meetings with a short yoga session to set a positive tone for the day!

Nicole has led several yoga sessions for our Breakthrough students, and they loved it. It’s a great way to start the month, especially during stressful times like month-end close.

Encouraging Your Team to Move and Destress Together

Nicole emphasized the importance of team bonding through movement and mindfulness practices. She offers virtual and in-person sessions that can help your team connect, reduce stress, and build a sense of community.

We’ve hosted game nights and virtual yoga sessions with our team, and it’s amazing how these activities improve our team’s morale and productivity. It might seem unproductive at first, but these breaks actually lead to a happier, more efficient team! Woo!

Practical Tips for Mindfulness and Self-Care

Nicole shared some simple yet effective tips for incorporating mindfulness and self-care into your daily routine:

  1. Breathing Exercises: Set a timer for two minutes and just breathe deeply, paying attention to how the air enters and exits your body.

  2. Set Intentions: Start your day with a simple intention, like focusing on joy. Use alarms throughout the day to remind yourself of this intention.

  3. Movement: Incorporate short bursts of movement into your day. Even a few minutes of stretching can make a big difference.

I’ve started setting alarms to remind myself to drink water and take breaks. These small actions can seriously improve your overall well-being.
